Buried Log Revealed
There is an uninhabited sand spit over a mile long north of our beach house on the Oregon coast. It divides an estuary from the ocean, confining the connection between the two into a narrow channel. Heavy storms during the winter deposit all manner of objects only to be quickly buried in the sand by either high waves or wind. But, the sand is always shifting. Stuff buried last winter or a hundred years ago can emerge and be buried again.
While on a walk through the estuary, I came onto this log. It was very large suggesting a quot;old growthquot; trunk. The cut was by power saw, nevertheless. So, it may have been buried a while. But, probably not over about five decades. Its a guess.
