On July 24, 2012 I joined a small USGS work crew to photograph their work and help out. We were flown by helicopter to the "September Lobe" of the "Old Dome" in the crater of what is left of the top of the mountain. The crew was sent to repair sensor equipment damaged by the winter snow pack (this was the first opportunity weather-wise this year to get to the site). The small crew consisted of the USGS crew leader, Mark, an intern, Bryan, and two volunteers, Kurt and Mike.
