Desert Hills (Night Scene)
This photo is of the night sky in the desert near Desert Hot Springs, CA. It was captured via an extended exposure with a tripod mounted camera. The light on the hills and in the clouds is from the half-moon behind the camera. The view of the camera looks north creating a circular pattern of the sky "moving" (actually the surface of the planet is moving) around Polaris.br/br/If you look closely you may see a pattern of lights angling lower right to upper center of the image. This, I believe, was created by a nighttime sortie from the US Marines air base located deeper into the desert at Twenty-Nine Palms.
