Our "beach house" on the Oregon coast is only a mile away from a small, undeveloped state park created to preserve the Whalen Island Estuary. There is a short one mile (if that) loop trail which circles the "island," a wooded high area within the estuary itself. This is a favorite after dinner walk in the long summer evenings. This week's image was captured from Whalen Island looking onto a portion of the estuary. If you look closely, you will see the tip of Haystack Rock (the Pacific City Haystack Rock) peering over the tips of the tree line.
