Built by the Weyerhaeuser Corporation, the Chehalis Western Railroad ran from Chehalis, Washington to this loading dock on the Henderson Inlet (South Puget Sound). The log train ceased operations in the early 1980's and the much of the former rail corridor has been converted into a bicycle trail (see http://eruttledge.zenfolio.com/p492004455/h966d1b?customize=2#h966d1b
). A small picnic area is provided at this site with a view of the Inlet. Though very scenic, the area is quiet. The mile-long walk from the parking lot discourages the casual tourists. Not all a bad thing.
