While the rest of the nation bakes in record braking temperatures, it is early spring in the alpine meadows on the slopes of Mt. Rainier. This past Sunday I caught site of this small flower pushing through the thinning snow cover. I was at about the 5,000 foot (1,524 m) level along the Skyline Trail in Mt. Rainier National Park.
