The Beach at Hug Point
A favorite wayside along the north Oregon coast is Hug Point. Located about five miles south of Cannon Beach, Oregon, the area was named for where the original coast road hugged the outcroppings along the beach. The original coast road was, in many places, simply the beach at low tide.
The weather was fair for a winter's day. We arrived at low tide, but the surf was high and unpredictable owing to a series of storm cells that had passed through the night before. This image was captured between surges covering the beach with as much as two feet of water.
