Looking like something out of a classic John Ford western, Painted Canyon is located in the Southern California desert near the Salton Sea. Water runoff from eons of occasional rainfall have carved deep and narrow canyons in the area. Painted Canyon eventually narrows to a slot canyon wide enough only for a single person.
