Snow melt from the mountains above creates a complex system of springs and small seasonal rivers in the canyons close to desert floor at Palm Springs, California. As a result, the canyons have developed a number of well established oases. This photo was captured in the Palm Canyon oasis in the mid-afternoon. The combination of foliage, shadows and desert landscape seem to cover much of the color spectrum from deep blue to green to yellow.
