We took a three-day “photo safari” in June, 2016. Our tour focused on the high desert of central Oregon, a place of “Old West” scenery and remote small villages. We crossed the John Day River at Twickenham, hiked along the dramatic cliffs of the “Clarno Unit” of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument and set up for an early morning photo shoot as the morning sunrise illuminated the east walls of Smith Rock.
