Day 2 - Bog Walk

Monument to Beldar?

Not really. This monument is located at the "landing" site of the first trans-Atlantic flight (1919). Thinking they were coming in on a solid field, the two-man crew landed in a bog ... causing the plane to crash on impact. The aircraft was destroyed, but they walked away from it.

The site is now a national monument of sorts with walkways out over the bog to get to the very spot where crew members Alcock and Brown survived their crash landing.
