View from the Orion Arm

Earth is located in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. We're about two-thirds out from the galaxy's core.br/ br/ In this photo the camera lens is pointed towards the core which is about 25,000 light years away. Summer is the best time of year to view the Milky Way galaxy when in the Northern Hemisphere of our planet.
