Day 10: Services at Chiesa San Donato

Civita di Bagnoregio is a quot;living museumquot; of Medieval and early Renaissance architecture. So, there is a steady stream of tourists who are willing to brave the steep climb into the town. But, there are about a hundred local residents during the summer - people who actually reside in Civita as home. For which the local church, Chiesa San Donato, continues to provide services.br/ br/Today we stood in to watch the afternoon communion service. This is a no frills communion consisting of the elevation of the host, the blessing and distribution of the sacrament. All done in about five minutes. The town being open to visitors, the priest and parishioners were comfortable with a couple photographers, including myself, doing photos so long as there was no flash.
